Looking for information on a BARNES family that resided at a place called the Sunshine Ranch in Leaf River Township in Wadena Co. This family consisted of Alvin BARNES, wife, Isabelle HODGE BARNES, her mother Rebecca HODGE and Alvin and Isabelle's children Lyman, Isabelle, Charlotte, Albert, Letha and Beth. Also living with them was Roy MILLER, Evelyn MILLER and Daisy MILLER. They moved to Leaf River in 1917 and then moved away in the early 1920's. Rebecca HODGE died in the State Hospital in Fergus Falls and is buried somewhere in Wadena. Also, Alvin was apparently hospitalized for a psychiatric disorder while living there. Anyone with any information on this family or any hints about the name of a psychiatric facility in the area or even an idea about where Rebecca Hodge is buried, please contact me.

We are trying to locate the following: Lejon Carin Larsdotter, born 16th Apr 1850 on Solleron, an island in Lake Siljan, Sweden, married Johannes Andersson, born 22 Jan 1849 in Orsa, Sweden. They left Sweden 1882 with their children Anna born 8 Apr 1874, Karolina born 3 Jun 1876, Anders Gustav 30 Dec 1878 and Lars born 16 Nov 1880. In the United States or Canada six more children were born. They had also a foster son, Kox Jons Andersson, born 16 Jun 1864. He left Sweden 1883. The last known address was Hendon Saskatchewan, Canada. That was 1924 or 27 when Carin died and a daughter wrote a letter to Sweden. The daughter's name was Mary; she lived in Minneapolis and her surname was Johnson. It is said that Johannes was a restaurant-keeper in Wadena, Minnesota but that can be incorrect (possible Wadena, Saskatchewan). Lejon Carin was my grandmother's aunt and I am grateful for all information.

I am doing some historical research on a remote part of northwest England called Furness, and I came across a footnote in an old book that in 1872 a small group of craftsmen and artisans from Furness and the town of Barrow in particular, emigrated to Minnesota and were encouraged by a local railroad to found the "Wadena Colony". They felt they had been displaced by the industrial revolution and were looking for somewhere new to continue their old ways. I have no other information other than that; if anyone knows anything about this group or what became of its members, I'd be curious to find out.

I am searching for my birthparents, as I am in need of medical history. I was born on 12/11/66. I weighed 5 lbs. 5 1/2 oz. Full term baby. I was born at Wesley Hospital, which is now Tri county. 5 Hours of labor. I was taken to a foster home until Feb. 1967, then was adopted by the Carter Family. My birth mother was 31 yrs. at time of birth, and divorced. Her nationality was Norwegian, and a member of the Luthern congregation. She was described to be 5'2 tall and 115lbs, blue eyes and fair complexion. She had been employed in secretarial positions in Federal Civil Service. She had four children from her marriage. She divorced approcimatly 3 yrs before my birth. Her father was a custodian at a high school. He suffered heart trouble approximately 1 yr. before my birth. He also had cancer of the nose which was arrested. Her mother was a housewife. She had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. One brother was a carpenter and heavy machine operator. The other brother was majoring in journalism. One sister was a housewife and a part-time steneographer. The other sister was a medical doctor's assistant and housewife. My birth father was 5'7 180lbs. He had brown hair ,brown eyes, and a dark complexion. His nationality was German, and he was a member of a Congregational Congregation. He was employed by a railroad. His father was deceased, cause of death was not in my file. He had several brothers and sisters. I by all means do not want to intrude on anyones life, I would just like to have my medical history , for I have 2 children, and have to know some medical background for some health issues that have risen. I am divorced and my ex-husband was also adopted, so I have no clue to what is in store. Please if anyone has any information that could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Bill Everson Tue, 22 DEC 1998
I'm searching for information about my great grandfather, whose last name was Everson. I don't know the first name. An old letter from a deceased aunt indicated he was buried in Menahga, Wadena County, MN. His wife was named Carrie and one account indicates she was the daughter of Christ Olson of Noonan, ND. However, I have other informaton that suggests Christ Olson might have been her second husband, after Olson. Everson was said to have been born in Manitowoc, WI but I haven't been able to verify that. He was probably born in the 1850s and died some time after 1877, when my grandfather was born and before 1900. The children were: Charles Edward (1877-1940 Grand Forks, ND); Cornelius; Albert (spouse Anne) of Idaho?; Charles (may be a stepson?); John; Anton; Oscar (never married); and Hannah.

Cornelius Everson had a son, Wesley, who died in the 1970s or 80s. Wesley's spouse was Gladys of Lethbridge, Alberta. Cornelius also had a daughter, Irene, whose husband was Ahlburn M. Gropp of Swift Current, SK.

Anton Everson had a daughter, Viola, and a stepson, Milvin, who had 12 children from 3 wives (two died).

Hannah Everson married Arthur Wells and probably lived in New Mexico. Their daughter Eva Wells once lived, Billings, Montana.
